Tip of the Day 04/28/09

You can use knitting needles as mandrels for making jump rings and to help form earrings. They are smooth and inexpensive and easy to find.

Tip of the Day 04/24/09

Cut old buttons off of clothing before discarding it. The buttons make great closures for jewelry. You can use less attractive buttons as a basis for beading, fiber art, or wire wrapping.

Tip of the Day 04/23/09

Digital cameras are a great way to photograph jewelry, but if you don't have one, you can get some good photos by placing your jewelry on a scanner and imaging it directly.

Tip of the Day - Fine silver won't tarnish

Tip: Fine silver won't tarnish, but sterling silver will. To slow the process, keep items of jewelry packaged in sealed plastic bags. Push as much air out of the bag as you can before closing it.

Tip of the Day

For some of you that love to work with wire there is a sight called wire-sculpture.com that will email you a tip of the day on jewelry making. Here is todays tip:

Many of your gems are sized in mm. Is there a formula for determining the amount of carets a gem has?
All gems are sized in mm's. Each gem has a different chemical structure and the weight of each gem is dependent on it's chemical structure, therefore, there is no formula that equates weight to size for different gems.

Check out wire-sculpture.com and subscribe to tip of the day for more tips. Got a question you need to know they will answer it.

Happy Beading!

Is anyone reading my blog? Help!

I was hoping to have a free giveaway every two weeks. I am new to blogging what do I have to do to get some followers to view my blog? There has to be someone out there that would like to have a free piece of jewelry. I would very much appreciate it if someone could explain to me what I'm doing wrong. Any tips of the trade? I am trying to get my business going on etsy so I figured a free piece of jewelry may help get me noticed but hey I can't seem to do that. I love setting up shop on etsy and I do realize that when you are just getting started you can't expect to start off with a bang. Although, that would be nice! Yea, dream on right. I've never been one to give up. I believe in myself and my product. How do I get my blog noticed? Is anyone reading this? Help! I really need it.
